Canuck acquire Ehrhoff from Sharks
VANCOUVER — The Vancouver Canucks bolstered their blue-line Friday, acquiring defencemen Christian Ehrhoff and Brad Lukowich in a four-player deal with the San Jose Sharks.

In return, Vancouver sent defenceman Daniel Rahimi and forward Patrick White to San Jose.

Ehrhoff scored eight goals and had 34 assists in 77 games last season. Lukowich, a native of Cranbrook, B.C., had eight assists in 58 games.

Naslund officially retires from NHL
NEW YORK — Markus Naslund wrapped up a 15-year NHL career when he retired Monday after just one season with the New York Rangers.

Naslund, who left the Vancouver Canucks last summer as a free agent, signed a two-year deal worth US$8 million with the Rangers but decided to skip the final season when he will be 36.

Khabibulin, who has been sidelined by a groin injury since he was hurt Feb. 11, leads the Blackhawks with a 2.37 goals-against average and a .924 save percentage and has a 17-5-5 record in 29 games.

Leafs call up F Ondrus from Marlies
Ondrus, 26, played in 50 games with the Marlies this season registering nine goals and six assists for 15 points with 76 penalty minutes. A native of Sherwood Park, Alberta, Ondrus has played 41 career NHL games with the Maple Leafs posting two assists and 43 penalty minutes.

The 6-0, 194-pound winger was signed as a free agent by Toronto May 27, 2004.

Habs claim Metropolit from Flyers
The Montreal Canadiens claimed centre Glen Metropolit on waivers from the Philadelphia Flyers on Friday, sources tell Sportsnet.

Metropolit is known as a dependable penalty-killer.

He has four goals and 14 points this season and is minus-1.

Metropolit is guaranteed $1 million this year and is also guaranteed $1 million for the 2009-10 season.
