TORONTO — New York Islanders defenceman Andy Sutton was suspended two games Wednesday after leaving Pittsburgh’s Pascal Dupuis bloodied with a hit from behind.

Sutton was assessed a major penalty and game misconduct for boarding after hammering Dupuis with less than three minutes to play in New York’s 6-4 loss to Pittsburgh on Tuesday.

The New Jersey Devils have placed left-winger Patrik Elias on the injured list with a concussion.

The captain of the Czech Republic Olympic team was hurt Saturday when he was checked by Colorado’s Ryan Wilson. The defenceman’s shoulder hit Elias’ chin on the play.

TORONTO — Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Martin Gerber received an automatic three-game suspension from the NHL on Wednesday for abusing referee Mike Leggo.
