COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Blue Jackets have been granted permission to speak with Detroit Red Wings assistant Paul MacLean about their vacant head coaching position.

Red Wings general manager Ken Holland confirmed Monday that he had been asked by his Columbus counterpart, Scott Howson, and that he believed the interview would take place on Tuesday.

WASHINGTON — The Capitals shook up their roster a bit Monday, acquiring left-winger Jason Chimera from the Blue Jackets in a trade that sends Chris Clark and defenceman Milan Jurcina to Columbus.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired defenceman Brendan Bell and forward Tomas Kana from the St. Louis Blues in exchange for forward Pascal Pelletier, the teams announced on Tuesday.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Blue Jackets have loaned promising forward Nikita Filatov to CSKA of the Kontinental Hockey League for the remainder of the 2009-10 season.

General manager Scott Howson announced the move Tuesday. He said it was made so Filatov could develop his game in his hometown of Moscow.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated forward Kristian Huselius and placed forward Raffi Torres on the injured list.

COLUMBUS, OHIO — The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed centre Derick Brassard to a US$12.8-million, four-year contract extension.

The 22-year-old native of Gatineau, Que., scored 10 goals and added 15 assists in 31 games last season before a dislocated shoulder in December benched him for the remainder of the year.
