MONTREAL — Montreal Canadiens defenceman Andrei Markov will be out three weeks and fellow blue-liner Mathieu Schneider is out for the season, a Quebec television station reported Monday.

A Canadiens spokesman said the team will comment after Montreal’s game Monday against the Ottawa Senators.

Both Markov and Schneider were injured in Montreal’s 6-2 win Saturday night in Toronto.

Wild lose Mikko Koivu to knee injury
ST. PAUL, Minn. — Minnesota Wild centre Mikko Koivu will miss at least a week with a knee injury and could miss the rest of the regular season.

Koivu was hurt in Sunday’s victory over Edmonton.

Assistant general manager Tom Lynn says Koivu had an MRI and saw team doctors on Monday and will be out at least seven days. Lynn also said Koivu could miss all 10 games through Minnesota’s regular-season finale on April 11.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Sabres all-star Thomas Vanek will be sidelined three to four weeks after having surgery Sunday to repair a fractured jaw.

Vanek, whose 32 goals ranks third in the league, was hurt in the first period Saturday night in Ottawa after being struck in the face by a slapshot by Senators defenceman Anton Volchenkov.

COLUMBUS, Ohio. — Goalie Pascal Leclaire of the Columbus Blue Jackets will undergo ankle surgery and is expected to be sidelined 10-to-12 weeks, the NHL club announced Tuesday.

Leclaire’s operation is scheduled for Friday.

Leclaire, 26, has appeared in 12 games this season, posting a 4-6-1 record with a 3.83 goals-against average and .867 save percentage. He last suited up for a game Dec. 18 at Dallas.

Demitra has a fractured cartilage in his eighth rib and will be gone for three to four weeks, Alain Vigneault, coach of the NHL team, said Thursday.
