Sabres approach decision time on Myers

Sabres defenceman Henrik Tallinder doesn’t understand what the big mystery is regarding rookie teammate Tyler Myers’ NHL future.

If Sabres management insists it will take one more game to evaluate whether to keep Myers on the roster for the rest of the season, Tallinder doesn’t need another minute of convincing.

“He should play here,” Tallinder said after practice Tuesday. “I’m really amazed with Continue reading ‘Sabres approach decision time on Myers’

The Sabres have traded underachieving left wing Daniel Paille to the Boston Bruins in exchange for two draft picks.

In making the deal Tuesday, the Bruins announced they gave up a third- and a conditional fourth-round selection in next year’s draft. Paille is a 2002 first-round draft pick who had difficulty finding a niche in the Sabres lineup.

He had one assist in two games with Buffalo this season. Continue reading ‘Sabres send Paille to Bruins for draft picks’

Sabres on the outside looking in

Sabres on the outside looking in
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Forward Drew Stafford was in no mood Sunday to lament how difficult the Sabres have made it on themselves in a bid to make the playoffs entering the final week of the regular season.

Looking back at the opportunities Buffalo has squandered — beginning with a 3-2 loss to New Jersey a day earlier — wasn’t going to alter an Eastern Conference race that has the Sabres stuck in 10th place. They’re two points behind Florida Continue reading ‘Sabres on the outside looking in’

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Buffalo Sabres goalie Ryan Miller thinks it’s premature to start talking about the playoff race with two months left in the NHL season.

Doesn’t mean he doesn’t deserve the credit for firmly putting his team in the post-season picture at this juncture.

Despite having his shutout string end at nearly 160 minutes, Miller was the difference, making 35 saves in a Continue reading ‘Surging Sabres hold off Canadiens’
